What fun! And something useful, as always. In Russian we say “to shovel” money, though a rake strikes me as a much more efficient tool for this)
Thank you for the recording Tim. It’s time to spruce up my English by learning these phrasal verbs so I can get ahead of my competitors, rake in a lot of money, take off in my private jet, and get away without doing my homework.
Thank you for this tour de force (this should also help your French, it means “masterpiece”), Rushad.
You reminded me of a Russian English teacher I knew way back when I lived in Moscow. He really loved idioms and proverbs and learned tons of them- you really couldn’t get through a short conversation with him without hearing a dozen or more idioms.
“Wow, last week you were sick as a dog! But now you’re healthy as a horse. I guess you’re feeling as right as rain? Maybe as fresh as lettuce?” He was a really nice guy, but patience does have its limits.
Haha, yeah, you’re right, there always must be a balance!
